Background

This work was carried out whilst working at the University of Reading Marketing, Communications and Engagement department, for the Graduate School marketing materials. A new visual identity had been launched for the University of Reading, concentrated at undergraduate level marketing materials. A visual style was required for the Graduate School to distinguish the materials from undergraduate documents.

Photography

Black and white photography was chosen – to contrast the full-colour imagery of undergraduate materials, and to provide a more sophisticated edge. Photography content was to be mainly people based, focusing on the individual nature of research, yet with images of people engaging and networking, to highlight the interdisciplinary nature too. Photoshoots were organised to provide bespoke images – particularly of the Researchers of the year. A photoshoot was also organised to photograph details of the historic building in which the Graduate School is housed. These photographs were used in full-colour to add pockets of interest throughout the material – in particular throughout the Graduate School brochure.

Design

Work was carried out to restructure the content of the Graduate School brochure to 'chunk'  information in to manageable paragraphs and sections.
