Letters of a typographic kind have been on my mind, and here’s my latest work this week, taking a snippet of a quote from Alice in Wonderland:
If you’re intrigued about the whole quote, here it is:
‘”Be what you would seem to be” – or, if you’d like it put more simply – “Never imagine yourself not to be otherwise than what it might appear to others that what you were or might have been was not otherwise than what you had been would have appeared to them to be otherwise.”‘
– The Duchess
Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland
On my web travels this week I have come across some inspiring lettering artists. Seanwes’ work was a recent find, and has inspired me to be more hands on with letterforms. For my lettering work I quite often begin on the computer and take the results to the drawing board (literally), or combine my watercolour samples with computer created graphics. By seeing the results of an idea coming together, e.g. in ‘Do What Makes You Come Alive‘, you can see why the final result of Seanwes’ work looks so polished, but retains the hands on feel of a craftsman.
